I will be upgrading to WHMCS version 5.1. It's a good idea to backup your current files before you upload the new ones, just in case.<\/p>\n<h3>Backup current WHMCS database.<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into cPanel.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the 'myphpMyAdmin' icon.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the WHMCS database.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the 'Export' tab.<\/li>\n<li>Select 'SQL' as the export format and click the 'OK' button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Get the backup file from WHMCS<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into your WHMCS account members area: <a title=\"members area whmcs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whmcs.com\/members\">http:\/\/www.whmcs.com\/members<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the 'View \u00bb' link for 'Number of Products\/Services:' under the 'Account Overview' area.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/whmcs_products.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4923\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"whmcs_products\" src=\"http:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/whmcs_products.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"414\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/whmcs_products.jpg 414w, https:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/whmcs_products-300x252.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 414px) 100vw, 414px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click on the 'View Details' button for your WHMCS product.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the 'Downloads' tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the 'Download' link for the latest version of WHMCS.<\/li>\n<li>Unzip the file so you can upload it in the next step.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Set your Current version of WHMCS to maintenance mode<\/h3>\n<p>We will set our current version of WHMCS to\u00a0maintenance\u00a0mode so customers can't login to their account during the upgrade.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into WHMCS.<\/li>\n<li>Click on 'General Setting' under the 'Setup' tab.<\/li>\n<li>Under the 'General' tab under the 'General Settings. check the 'Tick to enable - prevent client area access when enabled'\u00a0check-box.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maintenance_mode_whmcs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4924\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"maintenance_mode_whmcs\" src=\"http:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maintenance_mode_whmcs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maintenance_mode_whmcs.jpg 383w, https:\/\/2slick.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maintenance_mode_whmcs-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click the 'Save Changes' button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Uploading the new version of WHMCS to replace the old version<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into your FTP account. In this example I'll be using Dreamweaver.<\/li>\n<li>Drag the contents of the WHMCS application into the directory of your old WHMCS application,\u00a0sit back\u00a0and let the upload process finish.<br \/>\n<strong>Note:<\/strong> Most web hosting\u00a0re-sellers\u00a0<a title=\"WHMCS security\" href=\"http:\/\/docs.whmcs.com\/Further_Security_Steps#Restrict_Access_by_IP\">change the name of their admin folder for security<\/a> reasons.
