This will insure your blog posts catch the Google PR wave. by doing this you can have blog post that ranks #1 on Google no matter how competitive the keywords become.

Be realistic - If you're not the first one to write about a popular topic, use Google's Adword keyword tool to find popular, low competition keyword phrases. For example, if you want to write a blog post about 'sex' you will have a hard time getting noticed. The internet is already saturated with high ranking blog posts on this topic. You can use the keyword tool to find the least competitive yet popular versions of the topic to write about. Keep in mind that it's not always possible to generate a high traffic blog post on certain topics that already thoroughly saturate the web. If you are unfamiliar with SEO I would recommend using my blog keyword topic service. If you don't want to pay the $19 for the 'blog keyword topic service' I offer, you can find blog keywords yourself, here's how. It's a good way to make certain you write blog articles that will generate the most traffic.
If you've purchased blog topics from 2slick.com, keep in mind that the blog topics are research high traffic low competition keyword phrases. Mention the 'blog topic' or keyword phrase 5-6 times through out your blog post. Make sure they are also the titles of your blog posts.

Have content - Your posts should have a lot of content. Preferably 400+ words and at least 1 image. Make sure your image file names and alt tags include relevant keywords.

Divide you posts - (Very important) An important factor in blog traffic is 'search engine ranking' and an important factor of 'search engine ranking' is 'page rank'. The biggest problem with blogs, affecting their page rank negatively, is that they have a very high 'bounce rate'. A 'bounce' is when a viewer comes to your website and immediately leaves. The way Google checks for bounces is by detecting whether the viewer clicks on a website link or not. If a viewer doesn't click on a link on your website Google considers it a bounce. A viewer may spend an hour reading your blog post, but if no links are clicked, Google considers it a bounce. Lame I know..
An easy way to prevent this is by dividing your blog post up into more then one page. This will cause the reader to click on the 'next page' link to continue reading your post and thereby satisfying Google's 'bounce check'.
Insert this line of WordPress code where you want the next page to begin in your blog post:

<!--nextpage-->

Adding images is a good way to make your short posts long enough to divide your posts into 2 pages aesthetically .

Create Google Webmaster Tools account - Creating a Google Webmaster Tools account will greatly decrease your bounce rate. For instructions go here: http://2slick.com/web/lower-your-bounce-rate-by-70/affordablewebsitestips/tutorials

Index your blog post - Your new and important post will be 'spidered' in 4-5 days at which point your post will be indexed and searchable by search engines. If you create a tweet with a link to your new blog post it will take hours to be indexed. Embedding a new YouTube video into your blog post will also get it indexed fast. This is my favorite method as it creates more valuable content for the post and also increase your exposure over the YouTube display network.

Post relevant links - Posting relevant links from one blog post to other blog posts is an all around good idea. It helps encourage traffic and more advertisement clicks. Instead of arduously going back and forth trying to link old blog posts that may be relevant to new posts, I recommend letting a plugin handle it. I recommend this plugin: Related Posts Widget.
I recommend putting the relevant links in the sidebar of the blog, not the bottom of the blog, so as to not distract readers from the 'next page' link.

Include the Google +1 - Include the Google +1 button on all your blog posts. I recommend using this plugin to install the Google +1 button: plus one
Make sure you use the plugin options to place the Google +1 button at the top of the post pages, not the bottom, so as to not distract from the 'next page' link.

Knowing how to blog well in conjunction with online advertisements means income.
