A website package is supposed to be the 'easy button' of website creation in all aspects, including cost. A website package is supposed to cover all the essentials so that you hit the ground running.
Any good web developer will offer you consulting so that you know what you're getting into. Look for website packages that charges in recurring payments as apposed to a large flat rate. A company that depends on recurring payments invests in long term customers and depends on customer success as apposed to ripping people off with flat rates then leaving them high and dry.
