In the post I will tell you how to get your website to the top of Google and how to generate lost of website traffic. First of all, your website will need a blog section.

How to use Keywords for your blog

Finding a popular keyword as the main keyword for your website blog is the first good step. Mention the keyword phrase you're trying to rank for in your domain. If you didn't do this, don't worry about it, it's not a make pr break aspect of website SEO.
The main keyword for my website blog is 'affordable websites', it gets 3,600 local monthly searches. It's taken me years to rank my site second on Google search results for the competitive term and I only get 5 hits a month from it . The real traffic comes from finding popular, low traffic keywords then creating 250+word blog posts from them. Keep the blog post's subject matter in line with the main keyword or subject matter for your blog. Most bloggers spend 3-5 hours a day blogging. You should use Google Analytics to see what posts are getting the most traffic and create more of those types of posts. I get 5-600 hits a month on each of my blog posts. Racking up the number of blog posts seems to generate traffic well.

How to up the PR page rank for your blog

Another important factor in ranking on Google is PR(Page Rank). You can't get this from business listings. You need to have other websites, preferably also ranking for similar keywords as your website, to link to your website. The more high PR websites link to your home page, the higher your PR will get for your home page. Because your Home page indirectly links to your blog posts, your posts PR will get higher as your home page PR increases. Natural links occur over time, but it's slow... If you can pay other websites to link to you, or offer 'guest blog posts, your homepage PR will increase. Here's a guest blog post I did for bloggingtips.com http://www.bloggingtips.com/2012/07/17/how-to-increase-blog-pageviews-revisited/ and you can see the link at the end of the post.

With general topics, you're going to get web traffic from people all over the world searching for the term. If you want to get local traffic, I would mention city names in your blog topics if possible. Use Google Analytics to see which topics are getting the most traffic and create more blog post around or related to that topic. If you have more ideas on how to get your website on the top of Google feel free to leave them in a comment.
