If you're getting the "...has failed to upload due to an error The uploaded file could not be moved to ..." error message while trying to upload to WordPress then your hosting account has run out of disk space.

Example:

To increase your hosting account storage limit you will need to contact your hosting company.

If you can't increase your hosting account storage limit, or you can't afford to upgrade you increase the amount of free space on your hosting account by delete unnecessary files.

Below are some ways you can delete excess files from your hosting account.

File Manager

  1. Log into your hosting account cPanel.
  2. Select the 'File Manager' icon.
  3. Use the File Manager to search through your folders/directories and delete necessary files.

FTP

  1. Connect to your hosting account via FTP.
  2. Search through the directories deleting unnecessary files.
