In this tutorial I will show you how to transfer Blogger domain to WordPress. In other words, I'm going to show you how to point the domain you currently have been pointing to your Blogger website, to your WordPress website instead. There are actually two different types of WordPress websites, a WordPress.com website and a WordPress.org(self-hosted WordPress) website. In this tutorial I will be showing you how to point the domain to a WordPress.org website.

Note:

  1. A WordPress.org website is a version of WordPress that you can host on a web hosting account provided by a web hosting company like Godaddy, Hostgator etc.
  2. A WordPress.com website is a free subdomain website you can create using WordPress.com. It's very limited compared to a self-hosting WordPress.org website.

How to point your domain from your Blogger website to your WordPress website

  1. Backup your Blogger blog posts. You will still be able to access your Blogger blog after you point your domain away from it. I just like to be safe and always back things up when doing anything slightly unconventional.
  2. Log into your domain registrar's control panel or admin and then navigate to the domain controls for the domain you wish you redirect to your WordPress.
  3. You should have a your domain name and a list of  four Google IPs entered into your A-records section. Delete them all. You may have to contact your hosting account for specific instructions on how to do this.
  4.  In the CNAME section of your domain's admin, you should see the 'ghs.google.com' record, delete it. You may have to contact your hosting account for specific instructions on how to do this.
  5. Find the DNS settings for your domain name and enter in the nameservers for your new WordPress website. You will have to contact the hosting company to get the nameservers.
  6. Save your settings and wait for domain propagation in other words the time it takes for your domain to finish pointing to your new WordPress website.

That's how you transfer Blogger domain to WordPress self-hosted website.
