Editable form, or fallible forms are very handy to have on certain websites. Since Microsoft Word is so common, many website owners choose to make their editable forms in Word. Part of creating a fallible form is making a form there the text can't be changed, but the fields in the document can. In this tutorial, I will show you how to make only the form fields of your editable form editable while the rest of the document is uneditable.
How to make the form fields editable
- Open your form document in Word.
- Click on 'File'.
- Click the 'Protect Document' icon.
- Select the 'Restrict Editing' option.
- Now the 'Restrict Editing' section will display next to your editable form document.
- Click on the drop-down under the '2. Editing restrictions' options and select 'Filling in forms'.
- Click the 'Yes, Start Enforcing Protection' button.
- Enter in a password you that will be required to undo the restriction and click the 'Ok' button.
Now only the form fields will be editable by anyone whole opens the document. Click this link to undo the 'Restrict Editing' restriction.
